The Valle Verde Rotary Club of Green Valley recently awarded $4000 scholarships to 3 local high school graduates.
At the Walden Grove High School awards assembly on May 12 the club awarded Austan Peterson, who is headed to Pima Community College to study applied science technology and cyber security, and Addison Wagner, who is planning to study nursing at the University of Arizona.
The Sahuarita High School awards assembly was held May 15, where the club awarded Evelyn Pontnack. She plans to study surgical technology at Pima Community College.

| Valle Verde Rotary presented checks totaling $21,750.00 from Jazz in the Desert 2025 to Jonathan Johnson-Rio Rico HS; Lisa Sargeant Myers-Sahuarita MS; Cynthia Beletti-Continental School; Ben Garland-Sahuarita HS ; and in absentia Hannah Milner, Wade Carpenter MS; Tony Beletti-Nogales HS; Zack Sadio-Steensen, Walden Grove HS. Funds raised at the 16th annual event are shared between the participating schools’ music programs and other local, national and international Rotary projects. Jazz in the Desert 2026 is planned for Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Quail Creek Madera Clubhouse. |
